Occasional noise

Question : I OWNa Nissan Sylphy which has done 45,000km.

The problem that I am facing is noise at the front left wheel.

The noise comes on occasionally whenever I am driving on a hump or when reversing the car and turning the steering wheel.

When going over humps, it sounds like two metal parts clanking.

I have sent the car to a Tan Chong service center several times and there appears to be no solution.

I am wondering if there is a design defect on this model.

Answer : Sounds like either a lower suspension ball joint or the left steering ball joint.

Sometimes it is difficult to locate the exact source by having the car on the lift as there is no weight on the wheels.

I would suggest that you get the service advisor to take a drive with you so that you can let him hear and identify the noise. In this way, he cannot deny hearing the noise and has to make sure it is rectified before returning the car to you.
