How often to wax ?

Question : There are many brands of car wax in the market. I understand that frequent use of wax will protect the paint. However, I also heard that frequent waxing will make the paint on the car thinner. What is the appropriate frequency of waxing the car?

Answer : Waxing does not make the paint thinner but sometimes to get back the sheen a rubbing compound or an abrasive-type polish is used that cuts out a film off the paint to bring back the shine. Particularly with paints that do not have a clear top coat, this will wear down the paint. So the rule is to use pure wax polishes that give the shine and protect.
