Dry radiator

Question : I OWN a Perodua Myvi 1.3 Ezi.

I recently lost the radiator cap and drove it around without noticing it until the coolant was dry.

I managed to get to a workshop and after filling up the coolant and everything, the engine runs fine, except that there is this clicking noise.

The mechanic says it's the tappet.

What should I do ?

Answer : Even if the engine did not seize through loss of coolant, there may have been sufficient damage to the pistons and rings because of the excessive heat and friction.

The ticking noise could be tappets or "piston slap" and the best solution is to get them adjusted and then see fi the noise is still there.

If the noise is still there, change to a heavier grade of engine oil and that may reduce or eliminate the noise.
