Fuel choice

Question : WHAT are the pros and cons of RON95 and RON97 petrol ?

RON97 is obviously a cleaner and smoother petrol to use.

As RON97 is much more expensive than RON95, is it advisable to use it ?

Answer : Do not get confused by octane rating of the fuel and the additives.

The oil companies in marketing their fuels would talk about a lot of things but would never say that their RON97 fuel is cleaner, less corrosive, etc.

This has nothing to do with the octane rating of the fuel but due to the additives that are put into the fuel to give it those properties.

In short, the difference between RON95 and RON97 is simply better anti-knock properties.

Therefore, if your car is one that will happily run on RON95 fuel, RON97 will make no difference to its performance, all other things being equal.
