Can Kancil go synthetic ?

Question : Can my Kancil EX660 use a better lubricant such as semi-synthetic or even fully synthetic ? Some mechanics discourage using such lubricant, but my other car, a Honda City ISDI, can run much smoother with the fully synthetic.

Answer : There is no doubt about the better properties of synthetic lubricants as they are specially formulated to meet the specific needs of the engine. However, it would be best to start using the synthetic oil right from the time the car is new as you would then reap the maximum benefits from it.

However, using synthetic oil will not give you that "kick in the pants" performance, but the benefits are mainly in engine wear improvement, longer service intervals, and advantages such as oil consumption.

Petronas markets a range of synthetic lubricants under the Syntium name, and any Petronas station will be able to advise you on the best one to use for your application.
