Wattage poser

Question : I TRAVEL a lot at night and want to change the headlight bulb output from the current 50 watts to a higher wattage of 100 or 110 watts ( type 3700k ) for my new Honda CRV.

However, I am worried about the lamp holder and the whole reflector lens.

Can it be done ?

A few accessory shops give me conflicting advice and the Honda service center is of no help either.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Answer : Normally, changing the lamp from 55 or 60 watts to 100 watts would not be a problem as the wiring should be able to take the extra load.

However, there is a lot of additional heat generated by the lamp and if there is insufficient ventilation at the back of the lamp assembly, there is a possibility of distortion, etc.
