Faulty relay

Question : I AM driving a 2001 Putra ( auto ) and for the past six months, I have difficulties starting my car.

Most of the time I don't have a problem but occasionally, I had to click a few times and then only would the car start.

When it won't start, it did not click at all.

My friend's 1999 Wira is also having the same problem.

My mechanic says I will have to add a relay. He says there's not enough power traveling to the ignition. Changing the battery does not help.

Answer : There already is a relay at the starter and what is happening is that the relay is faulty.

Adding another relay is not going to solve the problem as the starter relay needs to be looked into.

The starter needs to be removed, the relay mechanism stripped down, serviced and refitted.
