Question : WHAT are the differences between
ventilated, drum and solid discs ?
The most basic brake is the drum brake,
followed by the solid disc and for higher
performance cars, the ventilated disc.
Obviously the ventilated disc is the
most efficient as it is able to dissipate the
heat of braking quite rapidly.
Drum brakes when heated up start to lose their efficiency as
the brake linings heat up and start to glaze over, thus reducing their efficiency.
