Question : I AM wondering whether it is normal
for a carburetor engine to not start
on the first crank when left for a few
One common thing with carburetor engines is that when the engine is hot, there
is a tendency for the fuel in the carburetor
bowl to evaporate and so lower the fuel
level in the bowl.
This is OK if the fuel level is set correctly
but if it is low in the first place, then it may
get too low for good starting after lying
idle for a while.
Get a mechanic to adjust the fuel level
to the mark on the sight glass on the side
of the bowl.
