Leaking absorbers

Question : I OWN a Wira 1.5 special edition.

My current front absorbers are leaking. I notice oil on the rod.

My tyres (front) seem to be uneven on the inner side.

Is it because of the absorbers? Is the special edition car fitted with 1.6L Wira absorbers ? The current absorbers are gas filled type.

My mechanic recommended that I use Monroe Sensatrac which is gas and oil filled. What will be the difference ?

Does the Wira special edition share the same type of absorber as that of the Wira 1.6 ?

Answer : If the shock absorbers are leaking oil, then they need to be replaced.

Worn or leaking shock absorbers will cause uneven tyre wear.

All gas filled shock absorbers are also filled with oil and so the Sensatrac has basically the same set-up.

However, Monroe does make some claims about the construction of its shock absorbers and their ability to do a better job, but remember other manufacturers will also make similar claims.

In the final analysis, you have to make the decision based on what you find out from people who have used a similar set-up, whichever the brand or product.
